Bayt al Zaman House

Zone 6, Doha, Qatar

Bayt Al Zaman is a historic residential structure designated as an Architectural Heritage Landmark in Qatar, by Qatar Museums. Its owner, Abdulrahman Al Zaman, built the house in 1950. It was one of the largest houses in Doha at the time of its construction.

Bayt Al Zaman was built during a transitional period in the history of economy and architectural evolution in Qatar, from traditional to early modern. Bayt Al Zaman could be characterized as one of the few remnants of this ‘transitional’ architectural period, between traditional and modern, which emerged in the country at the time.
