With a focus on water and energy efficiency, and a commitment to maintaining architectural and cultural heritage, Al Thumama Stadium will represent Qatar’s history, while embracing the state-of-the-art practices to ensure it will be arena of the future.
The design for Al Thumama Stadium was entrusted to Arab Engineering Bureau and its GCEO and Chief Architect Ibrahim Jaidah back in 2015. Concept is derived from a traditional head piece worn by men across the Middle East locally referred to as gahfiya.
An agreement signed on May 31st between Arab Engineering Bureau (AEB) and Qatar University (QU) established a collaboration in the field of wind tunnel engineering services through the university’s College of Engineering (CENG).
The Supreme Committee for delivery and Legacy has appointed AEB to design eighth proposed host venue for the 2022 FIFA World Cup that will be located on a plot of 515,400m² in Al Thumama.
